I appreciate you sharing with us your sometimes painful journey here. Sending you a virtual hug, because if you were I person in real life (ha ha, I know we all exist in the real world, but our relationship here is virtual) I would give you a real hug if you shared this with me in conversation.
Such a relatable post! I'm currently in transition from burning out in the mental health field. I appreciate how openly you're talking about your experience! It is such a process to navigate.
Thanks, Amanda, and sorry that you're navigating burnout as well. I used to be a social worker, so I'm very familiar with how the mental health field can completely drain you.
I thought you may resonate with that! The career shift I made (possibly temporary, we will see) is restoring my nervous system for sure! I even took a break between jobs and it was much harder to enjoy than I expected. The metaphor my therapist used was that the campfire has gone out and now the kindling is all wet, so trying to light the fire again is going to take some time.
Self Care is for writers too! When anything becomes a duty rather than a passion, it loses its nourishing qualities. Bravo to you for recognizing what you need and exploring other ways to refill your bucket. Thanks for sharing this personal journey with us.
Every one of these posts you share gives me many things to think about and at least one good book to read. I'm so glad you're taking such good care of yourself and I appreciate that you're sharing your process with us. How do you like being a role model?
Aww, thanks, Valerye. You're too kind. And I don't know about role model but how about a trail guide that's walking a few steps ahead and testing out the potholes and wrong turns so everyone else can maybe avoid them? lol
Thank you for sharing.

Aww, thanks for the hug, Laurel! I really am in a good place now even if it's still a work in progress with the writing. :)

Thanks, Vince! And yes the duty vs. passion thing is always an ongoing fight in this business.
