You inspired me, Roni. I’m on my second day of Morning Pages. I’ve tried them before, but in the most half-hearted of ways: after I’d been awake for hours with the world in my head, after checking social media, in bits and pieces, and then gave up. But the past few days, I’ve grabbed my journal in my bed and it’s already feels like magic. I poured all the anxiety out of my head, took a shower, and solved a plot problem I’ve been struggling with like it was nothing! I’m still amazed. I completely agree that doing the work is the only way to truly see if it’s worth it or not. Congrats on your !!!!
Yay, that's amazing to hear! I'm so glad they're starting to work for you. That's how I tried them the first time too, half-heartedly. I hope they continue to open up things for you! :)
This may sound very random, but I wanted to thank you for writing good girl fail. And for taking the time and understanding how a proper BDSM dynamic originates. If you’ve noticed an uptick in sales on that particular book lately, it’s because I have literally recommended it to hundreds of people and everybody that reads it says it is absolutely phenomenal. So congratulations. You wrote a much loved book
Aww, thanks so much, Tiffany! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and an extra huge thank you for spreading the word. I'm terrible at advertising so I always appreciate the help lol! Happy New Year!
No special edition planned but if you’re digging into my backlist, the ones most similar to Good Girl Fail are probably Not Until You and Melt Into You. 🙂
There's nothing more potent than exclamation points from Super Agent Sara! They spurred me to write the opening (the hardest part for me) of a new story. I'm telling myself we're just going with the flow and trying not to put too much pressure on the writing but...*whispers* yipee for us both!
I finished a 5 book steamy, contemporary romance series for Soul Mate Publishing, and am now struggling to figure out what to write next. I saw a photo on Instagram that inspired me, but it's a paranormal, fantasy format that I'm not at all familiar with, and I'm sometimes overwhelmed by the possibilities. I've been in what I'm calling writer's block since June of 2022, and I'm frustrated. Part of the problem is the myriad of possibilities that the paranormal/fantasy romance genre provides. I'm sometimes so overwhelmed with potential plot lines that I get paralyzed. I did finally write my Prologue though, and that gave me a tremendous feeling of accomplishment. Chapter 1, however, is lurking in the cosmos, and refuses to reveal itself. Much frustration. I've been thinking that maybe if I come up with the geography of the world I'm creating, that will help me get started again. Thoughts?
Hey Janice, I'm sorry you're struggling with it. I'd recommend free-writing by hand ABOUT the story not necessarily writing words FOR the story. So like "So I have this character and i think she wants this and maybe it's because of that and this world will provide the best setting for it if it has this that or maybe this." Something that is no pressure that let's you brainstorm without feeling official. Also, if you're very unfamiliar with the sub genre and structure, consider doing some reading in the genre and study the things you like (or don't like about the books.) If you read enough in the genre, you will start to see patterns. For instance paranormal romance and fantasy romance can be two different things. Maybe pinpoint which your story fits better into. So research and low-pressure brainstorming would be my advice. Hope that helps! :)

No, really, thank you! I look forward to reading some of your others (and if you make a collectors edition of GGF I can guarantee at least 1 sale lol)

*whisper shouts* yay, Maggie!! We'll just keep showing our muses the Everything's Fine slogan from The Good Place. :)
